Your child used ChatGPT to write their homework

Say this

“I’m not angry that you used AI. I’d use it too. What I care about is whether you can still do this without it. Can you explain paragraph two to me in your own words? … Okay, let’s work out which parts were you and which parts were the AI, and what your school actually allows.”

Conversation D05, Digital & AI. Based on: Australian Framework for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Schools.

You’re not alone on this island.

The Harbour is for you, not your kids. Parenting can feel like standing on an island by yourself, especially if you’ve moved here from somewhere else. This is a warm corner of the island, with parents who get it.

Ideas we’re exploring:

  • Parent circlesSmall groups of parents with kids the same age, to swap stories and cheer each other on.
  • Little notes from counsellorsShort, practical ideas from school counsellors and psychologists, for the weeks that feel heavy.
  • Room to breatheKind words for tired days. Nothing to fix, nothing to buy.

Nothing is decided yet. Tell us what would help you: hello@parentsisland.com

You don’t have to get it right every time. After a hard day, coming back to say “I’m sorry, let’s try again” teaches your child more than a perfect day would.
A sample note from the Harbour

We’re teachers, on your side.

Parents Island is made by a group of teachers. Our founder, Chen Chou, used to lecture in computer science at university and is a dad of two in Adelaide: someone who knows how AI works, and who still has to find the right words with his own kids at home.

We write down the words and lessons that work in real classrooms and real homes, check them, and share them with you. We follow the Human Before AI idea: don’t cheat with AI, and don’t fear it either.

Every voice here is a teacher’s. Our teachers and reviewers will be introduced here by name, with their photos, before launch.

Early access opens 27 November.

Join the list and we’ll send one email when it opens, with the early price of AUD 29 for What to Say. You’ll also hear first when the Workshop and the Harbour open.
